Pukhraj Bafna is a Pediatrician and Adolescent Health Consultant. He is an eminent medical scientist, an excellent medical researcher, a famous medical teacher, an innovative health educationist, a national faculty trainer, a popular column writer, a devoted social worker, a renowned health activist and an outstanding organizer. He was widely recognized across the country for his extensive and exhaustive work on Tribal child Health and Adolescent health. As a prolific writer, he has authored chapters in esteemed medical textbooks such as the IAP Textbook of Pediatrics, IAP Textbook on Adolescent Health, Bhave’s Textbook on Adolescence, and the Textbook of Medico-Legal Sciences. Notably, he has maintained a weekly health column in the hindi newspaper Sabera Sanket since 1973. He accolades include the Padma Shri (2011), National IMA C.T. Thakkar Award (1978), Dr. B.C. Roy National Award by MCI (2017), Lifetime Achievement Awards from Times of India (2017) and GAPIO (2018) and the National Dhanwantri Award by Chikitsa Sansaar (2013). He has also delivered orations at various national and international forums. Currently, he serves as the head of the department of medicine at Chhattisgarh Dental College & Research Institute, Rajnandgaon, and chairs the Ethics Committees of several institutions, including the Government Medical College, Rajnandgaon.
